This is not the first case; I remember there were protests over the same thing in Zaporizhzhia a few months ago for instance. Btw I don’t think it’s an issue related to the political clashes between Zelensky and Klitschko, and rather it tells us that the morale of Ukrainian society regarding the war, even in the younger segments, is still high. And I also think it’s normal that in a country under attack the armed forces should take priority over anything else and it’s at least questionable to build new parks or renovate public buildings, however laudable it may be, in cities under constant missile attacks.

On a related note, to my knowledge inside the Ukrainian society there are also debates about the appropriateness of the curfew - which in Kyiv runs from midnight to 5 AM, with stores and restaurants having to close at 10 PM. A part of the population would like to remove it, while another stresses the importance of it as a matter of principle, as it helps remind people that the country is in war and strengthens a sense of discipline in society.
