The acquisition of Leopards has been confirmed by the Italian government. The numbers seem to be 133 Leopard 2A8s that will join 125 Ariete C2s + 140 Leopards in bridge-layer (Leguan), pioneer (Kodiak) and recovery (Wisent 2) versions. The Italian Army is in great need of the latters too as these three types of vehicles are currently based on Leopard 1 and acquired 40 years ago.
